WorldKind Client Assets

DEVELOPMENT DETAILS:

Tools used in Development: Canva, Genially, Camtasia, Vyond,

My Role:  Instructional Designer (research, script developer, graphic design, storyboard, voiceover, development)

Client: WorldKind, a global e-learning company

Challenge:

As an instructional designer, I was tasked with creating a dynamic and interactive job aid designed to enhance the learning experience for users. The goal was to go beyond traditional static aids and develop an engaging resource. This interactive job aid will be presented as a complimentary or different way of conveying information that has already been presented in a text format.

Solution:

I was granted the flexibility to choose the tool that best suited the objective. In this case, I opted for Genially to ensure the job aid's interactivity and engagement. Throughout the project, I actively collaborated with a key stakeholder, valuing her feedback and observations, which greatly contributed to the project's success.

Challenge: This task involved the creation of a document that complemented the information previously covered in a module of an e-learning course. This document was specifically intended to serve as a checklist, allowing the learner to have a tangible reference to the information shared in the module. I was assigned the responsibility of graphic design to ensure that all the information was presented clearly on a single page, while also adhering to the organization's brand guidelines. Our goal was to offer a visually appealing and practical tool that not only reinforced the learning but could also be actively applied and utilized by the learner as they progressed in their educational journey.

Solution: After designing and creating the document, I collaborated with another instructional designer to enhance its functionality based on stakeholder feedback. Together, we transformed the static document into an interactive checklist that not only presented the information but also allowed users to input their own details. This collaborative effort aimed to provide an even more engaging and personalized learning experience for the users, ensuring that they could actively apply the information to their own situations.

Challenge: As an instructional designer, my task was to participate in a contest to create a conference banner for World Kind, with the objective of making it stand out at the conference.

Solution:  To address this challenge, I initiated by researching the organization's core information, aiming to incorporate the most crucial details efficiently. My primary goal was to quickly engage conference attendees, sparking their interest in visiting World Kind's booth. During this process, I actively sought feedback from another instructional designer and a key stakeholder. Through our collaborative efforts, we developed a strong and captivating design that truly set itself apart at the conference.

Challenge: The project below was a collaborative effort which engaged three instructional designers, with each of us being assigned one of the three social media posts for LinkedIn and IDOL Academy. In my role, I took charge of the final post. Working together, we collectively transformed provided information into visually appealing designs that aligned with the organization's branding, emphasizing program details, stimulating audience engagement, and highlighting program benefits. I, in particular, was assigned the last post in the series, which involved building upon what the other instructional designers had created. I ensured a similar design approach while modifying it to have a stronger call to action, all contributing to our mission of inspiring professionals to connect college students interested in participating, thereby further enhancing the program's growth and success.

Solution: Our solution for this task involved creating PDF documents to be shared as carousels on LinkedIn. Each carousel consisted of pages that remained consistent, but the three different carousels presented unique posts. Despite these variations in design, they all conveyed the same core information in a unified manner. As part of our solution, I took the additional responsibility of translating all three posts into Spanish, widening our outreach. This approach aimed to capture the audience's attention, maintain the organization's brand identity, and effectively communicate program details through visually engaging and appealing posts.

Challenge: The challenge as an instructional designer involved the creation of an asset that effectively conveyed a college student's experience studying abroad. This asset would be an important component within WorldKind's Traveler Training Program, an e-learning course designed for universities to offer students preparing for study abroad experiences. To address this task, I collaborated with the Subject Matter Expert (SME), who was the college student with firsthand experience studying abroad. Together, we collaborated to shape a narrative following the SOAR framework—Situation, Obstacle, Action, and Result—that aligned with the "Cultural Adaptation and Mental Well-Being" module of the training program. In this collaborative process, through interviews and interactive documents, I gathered all the necessary information and insights required to incorporate the story seamlessly into the module. The ultimate objective was to ensure that the student's narrative served as a valuable and relatable resource for enhancing cultural adaptation and mental well-being among learners preparing for their study abroad journeys.

Solution:  For this task, I  transformed the student's narrative into two distinct assets. The first asset was designed to portray the challenges the student encountered during their study abroad experience (Trigger), while the second asset provided insights into the student's solutions to these challenges (Solution). To bring this vision to life, I utilized Canva to source stock video footage that seamlessly aligned with the narrative. Additionally, I collaborated with a volunteer to record the voiceover, thereby converting the written student's story into a compelling video asset. I used Camtasia to skillfully create a captivating video that authentically conveyed the student's story. This approach ensured that the training program offered not just a theoretical understanding but also real-life examples and solutions to enhance the cultural adaptation and mental well-being of future study abroad students.
