CASE STUDY:
Background and Problem Context:
This mock project involved developing a training solution for a fictional company, Limitless Inc. Limitless Inc. has been receiving negative feedback from new employees' about their experiences during the onboarding process. There have also been reports of lack of communication between HR Managers and new employees. This has resulted in low efficiency and integration from new employees into the company. Limitless Inc. is looking for a low cost, in house and rapid solution to improve communication, provide support, and keep track of learning during the onboarding process.
Solution
One of the training solutions offered to address the company’s problem is to offer a 2 part e-learning course that aims to train HR Managers to use Google Forms to improve communication with new employees, keep track of onboarding process, assess the learning that happens during onboarding process, with a tool they are already familiar with, Google Forms. It is self paced, it offers video tutorials, examples of how the features can be used and opportunities for HR Managers to develop Google Forms to start using right away. Google Forms is a tool that is already used in the company and this training aims to help HR Managers use this tool to its fullest potential.
Results
Because Google Forms’ advanced features allow users to develop forms that are interactive, can provide content, assess and collect data, we ran into the problem of creating a very long e-learning course. So we proceeded to design two different e-learning courses, Part 1 which trains users to use Response Validation and Part 2 which trains users to use Sections and Conditional Logic.
After six months of HR Managers having the opportunity to use Google Forms advanced features, new employees reported a higher degree of satisfaction during the onboarding process. HR Managers have also reported a decrease of number and frequency of questions received from new employees during the onboarding process. This tool offered an effective solution that allowed HR Managers to design their own communication challenges and learning support, rather than waiting for the company to invest in other tools.
