CASE STUDY:
Background and Problem Context:
As a freelancer, I was engaged to redesign an existing in-person virtual training module on "Building Trust in the Workplace" for a company's leadership training course. The task required transforming the content into a high-level and efficient l eLearning module that would be delivered in 30 minutes. The original training was lengthy, unfocused, and did not center on a specific aspect of trust, making it less effective for busy managers. To address this, I conducted thorough research, reevaluated the learning objectives, and developed a streamlined approach that would meet the company's needs.
Solution
I designed a concise eLearning module tailored to the company's culture and learning personas, focusing on relevant trust-building concepts. The redesigned module included engaging videos, scenario-based knowledge checks, and practical activities that encouraged managers to reflect on their strengths and areas for growth. I also developed supporting learning materials, such as a participant guide and job aids, to reinforce key concepts and provide practical tips for immediate application. Each element was carefully crafted to ensure the module was high-level, relevant, and action-oriented.
Results
The result was a targeted and engaging 30-minute eLearning module that aligned with the company's leadership training goals. By incorporating realistic scenarios, tailored activities, and supporting documents, the module provided managers with actionable strategies to build trust in the workplace. The content was streamlined, impactful, and immediately applicable, empowering managers to identify their own strengths and growth areas in trust-building, ultimately enhancing their leadership skills and fostering a more trusting work environment.

I developed a participant guide to accompany the e-learning module, designed to help learners keep track of their progress. The guide encourages active engagement by providing spaces for recording notes and reflections, as well as prompts to spark meaningful notetaking throughout the learning experience. This tool enhances retention and allows participants to personalize their learning journey.

As part of the leadership training module I developed, I created a video that introduced a scenario highlighting the challenges managers face with trust in the workplace. The video was designed to engage learners from the start and set the stage for exploring trust-building strategies. By depicting a common situation where a manager gathers more information before making decisions, the video encourages reflection on current trust strategies. As learners progress through the module and gain new knowledge, they revisit the scenario to compare their initial reactions with how they might approach it differently.
